What is the strongest solvent free grab adhesive
To find out the best grab adhesive, Ultimate Handyman carried out several tests to determine the best product. To test the adhesive strength test, each adhesive was applied between wood to metal then a hydraulic ram was used to break the bond and the pressure was measured at breaking point.
Test results
In the bond strength test involving wood and metal, Adiseal exhibited remarkable resilience, withstanding pressures exceeding 3123+ psi. In contrast, all other competitors failed at 1115 psi or lower, establishing Adiseal as more than three times stronger than the closest rival. How to use a solvent-free grab adhesive.
- Surface Preparation
To achieve a strong bond, properly prepare surfaces by ensuring they are clean, dry, and free from dust, grease, paint, or contaminants. Employ a fine brush, such as a paintbrush, to remove any fine dust from surfaces like concrete.
- Cut the Nozzle
If your grab adhesive is in a tube, trim the nozzle to create an appropriately sized opening. The size of the nozzle opening will dictate the thickness of the adhesive bead.
- Apply the Adhesive
Spread an even adhesive bead along one surface. Broader adhesive coverage enhances the strength of the bond compared to limited coverage.
- Join the Surfaces
After applying the adhesive, bring the two surfaces together. Exert firm pressure to ensure proper contact between the surfaces.
- Adjustment
Certain products offer a brief adjustment period to align bonded items. Utilize this time to make any necessary adjustments, gently sliding surfaces side to side to facilitate adhesive distribution and enhance bonding.
- Curing Time
Let the adhesive cure according to the manufacturer’s guidelines. The curing time can vary based on the specific adhesive and environmental conditions.
- Cleanup
If there is any excess adhesive that squeezed out during the bonding process, remove it using an appropriate solvent or as instructed by the adhesive manufacturer.
- Storage
After usage, tightly seal the adhesive tube or cartridge for future use, ensuring it stays in optimal condition.
Tip: To store Adiseal once opened, leave about 1cm worth of product out of the nozzle and store the tube upright in a cool dry place. Adiseal requires moisture for it to cure. The exposed part out of the nozzle will cure creating a cap. To re-use Adiseal, pull the cured part out or cut the nozzle until the uncured part is reached.
