Gutter repair & cleaning
For the best seal on a leaking gutter, start by cleaning it thoroughly. Remove old sealant and clear away any debris that may have accumulated from the roof using a brush. A fine brush, like a painting brush, can effectively remove fine dust.
Ensure the application area is completely clean before applying the sealant. Use Adisolve solvent cleaner to remove old sealant, oil, grease, tar, dirt, dust, and stubborn deposits. Adisolve is effective in deactivating most silicon-based sealants, making their removal easier.

How to use a gutter sealant
How to use a gutter sealant
- Clean the gutter
Start by thoroughly cleaning the gutter and downspout. Remove any debris, leaves, or dirt using a brush or a garden hose. It’s essential to have a clean surface for the sealant to adhere properly.
- Apply the sealant
Using a caulk gun or another suitable applicator, apply the sealant directly to the areas that need sealing. Common areas include joints, seams, and any visible cracks or gaps. Start from one end of the gutter and work your way to the other, maintaining a steady and even application.
- Smooth and shape the sealant
After applying the sealant, use a putty knife or a gloved finger to smooth and shape it. This step helps ensure proper coverage and adhesion while creating a neat finish. Remove any excess sealant that may have spread onto the gutter surface.
- Allow for drying and curing
Check the sealant’s instructions for the recommended drying and curing time. It typically takes several hours or even up to a day for the sealant to fully dry and cure. Avoid exposing the sealant to water or extreme weather conditions during this period.
- Inspect and test
Once the sealant has dried, inspect the gutter for any missed spots or areas that require additional sealing. Ensure that all joints and gaps are properly sealed. You can test the effectiveness of the sealant by pouring water into the gutter and observing for any leaks.
Tip: To store Adiseal once opened, leave about 1cm worth of product out of the nozzle and store the tube upright in a cool dry place. Adiseal requires moisture for it to cure. The exposed part out of the nozzle will cure creating a cap. To re-use Adiseal, pull the cured part out or cut the nozzle until the uncured part is reached.
Gutter type
Gutters can be made from a number of different materials. The most common material used is PVC plastic. Gutters are also made from steel, copper, concrete, aluminum, zinc and other materials. Plastic gutters are cheap, lightweight and easy to work with. They are available in a number of different colours but the most common colours are white, black, grey and brown. Whatever sealant for gutters is used, it needs to provide good adhesion on the material for it to seal properly. Adiseal adhesive & sealant provides the strongest adhesion and sealing properties on a number of different materials.
Clear gutter sealant
Adiseal Ultra Clear can also be used as a clear gutter sealant. Just like the other Adiseal adhesive & sealant range, it will seal leaks in even in the rain.
