Adhesive strength test
Ultimate Handyman conducted independent adhesive strength tests on various adhesives, applying them between wood and metal surfaces and measuring their breaking points using a hydraulic ram.
Adiseal heavy duty adhesive demonstrated exceptional strength, surpassing the nearest competitor by over three times. Its strength was so remarkable that it began to affect the test rig’s screws, causing them to tear out due to the pressure exerted by the hydraulic ram. As a result, the test on Adiseal had to be terminated.
Test results
In the bond strength test between hardwood and metal, Adiseal endured an impressive pressure exceeding 3123+ psi, whereas all other adhesives failed at 1115 psi or lower. The chart below demonstrates Adiseal’s exceptional performance in the adhesive strength test.

How to use a heavy duty adhesive
- Surface Preparation
Ensure surfaces are clean, dry, and free from contaminants like dust or grease. Remove any old adhesive or finishes if needed.
- Application
Apply the adhesive to one of the surfaces in a consistent manner, following the manufacturer’s instructions regarding quantity and coverage.
- Joining Surfaces
Press the two surfaces together firmly. Apply even pressure to ensure proper contact between the adhesive and both surfaces. Clamps or supports might be used if necessary to hold the surfaces in place while the adhesive sets.
- Curing Time
Allow the adhesive to cure completely. The curing time can vary based on factors like temperature, humidity, and the specific adhesive used. Avoid subjecting the bonded surfaces to stress or load until the adhesive has fully cured.

During thorough testing conducted by Ultimate Handyman, Gorilla Heavy Duty Grab Adhesive underwent rigorous examination alongside Adiseal. In the metal-to-metal adhesive strength test, Gorilla Grab Adhesive fractured at 166 psi, while Adiseal surpassed it, breaking impressively at 245 psi. In the wood-to-metal adhesive strength test, Gorilla Grab Adhesive fractured at 862 psi, while Adiseal excelled, reaching an astonishing 3123 psi without any signs of breaking.

Benefits of Adiseal
Extra heavy duty adhesive
Adiseal heavy duty builders adhesive has high initial grab but for even more instant grab, use the Adiseal Hi-Grab extra heavy duty adhesive. Although the adhesive bond strength of both products is similar, for most adhesive applications we recommend the Adiseal products over the Hi-Grab product. The reason for this is because the Hi-Grab product is a thick product so requires a lot higher force to push the 2 surfaces together.
