CT1 Sealant Adhesive
CT1 Sealant Adhesive Alternative Adiseal Proves Better the CT1
CT1 sealant adhesive is a good product but Adiseal adhesive sealant is better than CT1.
- Adiseal adhesive has stronger grab than CT1 adhesive.
- Adiseal sealant has stronger mould resistance than CT1 sealant.
- Clear Adiseal sealant stays clear in water whereas CT1 clear sealant turns white in water.
- Adiseal has been shown to be the strongest adhesive in an independent adhesive strength test.
- The coloured versions of Adiseal (white, black, grey and brown) cure quicker than the CT1 equivalent.
- As well as Adiseal being better than CT1 in numerous ways, Adiseal is also lower priced than CT1.
For any manufacturer to say their products are better than their rivals products is easy but proving it is another matter. Adiseal don’t just make claims but claims that can be backed up with actual proof and actual test data. Unlike some manufacturers who claim their products are 360% stronger without providing any proof of the claim, Adiseal can back up the claims. Don’t just listen to manufacturers marketing hype but let the test results speak for themselves to find out which product is best. If you’re looking for a CT1 alternative, Adiseal doesn’t just aim to be its equal but Adiseal has proven in numerous tests to outperform CT1 adhesive sealant.

CT1 sealant vs Adiseal sealant mould resistance test
As can be seen in the image, Adiseal sealant has stronger mould resistance than CT1 sealant. After being submerged in the same water for 24 days, CT1 sealant has discoloured below the water line due to mould growth whereas Adiseal sealant has remained mould free.
Mould resistance test procedure
Both products were applied to new clean plastics cups then filled half way with tap water. They were then both covered by plastic to make sure the cups were sealed. Both cups were kept next to each other in a dark location at room temperature (cool). This mould resistance test was started on 13/07/23. The image was taken on 06/08/23 after the water removed. The lot number of the CT1 sealant white was 3941754 which we were told by C-Tec was manufactured in February 2023. The batch number of the Adiseal sealant adhesive white was 3250560.

These are our internal test results. We are confident in our claims and are willing to provide a free tube of Adiseal adhesive sealant to any tradesperson in the UK for their own testing. For more details on how to receive your free tube, please visit the offer page.
C-Tec also have another product called BT1 sealant but in a previous test in 2019, Adiseal was shown to have stronger mould resistance than BT1 sealant as well. Images of that test are available if required.
CT1 sealant clear vs Adiseal sealant clear test in water
Adiseal showed superior performance compared to CT1 in the water-clear sealant test. While the C-Tec product turned white above and below the water line, Adiseal ultra-clear sealant stayed clear. CT1 showed more whitening below the water line. Both products were submerged for 24 days in the same water.
Clear sealant in water test procedure
Both products were applied inside new clean plastics cups then filled with tap water half way. They were then both covered by plastic to make sure the cups were sealed. Both cups were kept next to each other in a dark location at room temperature (cool). This clear test in water was started on 13/07/23. The image was taken on 06/08/23 after the water was removed. The lot number of the CT1 sealant clear was 3843320 which we were told by C-Tec was manufactured in April 2023. The batch number of the Adiseal sealant ultra clear was 2253-0927.

Previous test
In a previous test conducted on May 5th, 2020, it was interesting to note that the older formula of CT1 clear sealant outperformed their new formula when compared with several different clear sealants.
In the image, the CT1 clear sealant old formula is on the far right, and their new formula is the second from the right. It’s evident that their new formula turned white both below and above the water line, while their old formula clear sealant only turned white below the water line.
CT1 adhesive vs Adiseal adhesive grab test
As can be seen in the image, Adiseal adhesive has stronger grab than CT1 adhesive.
Adhesive grab test procedure
The test involved cleaning a black tile and 100g weights using a solvent cleaner. A small amount of CT1 adhesive & Adiseal adhesive was applied to the tile surface. The 100g weights were then firmly pressed onto the adhesive while the tile was flat on a table. Afterward, the tile was positioned vertically to allow gravity to pull down the weights.
This grab comparison test was done on 13/07/23. The lot number of the CT1 adhesive white was 3941754 which we were told by C-Tec was manufactured in February 2023. The batch number of the Adiseal sealant adhesive white was 3250560. Both cartridges were unopened before the test and only opened at the moment of the test. They were stored at room temperature and the test was conducted at room temperature.
Over time, the adhesive inside unopened cartridges tends to thicken, increasing the adhesive’s grab. To ensure fairness to the CT1 adhesive, we tested their 5-month-old adhesive, while the Adiseal adhesive was only 1 month old, granting the C-Tec product an advantage. Despite this advantage, Adiseal demonstrated a stronger grab in the test.
Verfication of test
These are our internal test results. We are confident in our claims and are willing to provide a free tube of Adiseal adhesive sealant to any tradesperson in the UK for their own testing. Please visit the offer page for details on how to receive your free tube. Additionally, we have a video available that showcases the test between the CT1 grab adhesive and Adiseal adhesive.
Grab test on clear versions
We also tested the adhesive grab of CT1 adhesive clear and Adiseal adhesive ultra clear using the same test as above. We conducted the test numerous times to make sure we got the results correct. On testing the grab of the clear versions, Adiseal ultra clear adhesive showed it had the higher grab almost all of the time but there was 1 occasion when it didn’t. For this reason we only want to claim that the Adiseal adhesive colours (white, black, grey & brown) have stronger grab than CT1 adhesive colours, even though the Adiseal ultra clear adhesive performed better than C-Tec’s clear adhesive in the grab test.
CT1 Power Grab n Bond adhesive (PGNB) vs Adiseal Hi-Grab adhesive
C-Tec offers another product, Power Grab n Bond (PGNB), which also boasts a higher instant grab. Adiseal Hi-Grab is another product known for its superior grab.
While it would be straightforward to claim Adiseal Hi-Grab adhesive is better than C-Tec Power Grab n Bond adhesive, we’re refraining from making direct performance comparisons between these two products. Both seem to perform similarly, but Adiseal Hi-Grab adhesive is available at a more competitive price compared to C-Tec Power Grab n Bond adhesive.
Drying times for CT1 vs Adiseal
How long does CT1 take to dry? The drying time for CT1 can vary depending on a number factors like moisture in the air and temperature. In our tests we found the Adiseal colours (white, black, grey and brown) to dry quicker than the CT1 equivalent product.
CT1 Glue Superfast Plus vs Adiglue
The Adiseal alternative to CT1 glue Superfast Plus is Adiglue. Adiglue has a thicker gel formulation, allowing higher gap fill and initial grab the C-Tec glue Superfast Plus. As well as Adiglue being better than the CT1 glue, C-Tec superglue Superfast Plus, Adiglue is also lower priced than the CT1 alternative superglue.

Why pay more for a product that doesn’t perform as well as Adiseal products.
Adhesive strength test
In an independent adhesive strength test conducted by Ultimate Handyman, Adiseal emerged as the strongest adhesive, displaying an impressive strength that was over three times greater than its closest competitor. Its exceptional performance was so robust that the screws securing the test rig began to tear out under the pressure of the hydraulic ram, forcing the test on Adiseal to be prematurely concluded.
Test results
When testing the bond strength between hardwood and metal, Adiseal withstood an astounding pressure of over 3123+ psi, while all other adhesives failed at 1115 psi or lower. The chart below highlights the superior performance of Adiseal in the adhesive strength test.
Strongest adhesive strength test results table
Product | Max pressure when adhesive bond broke (psi) |
Adiseal | 3123 + psi |
SupaBond | 1115 psi |
Tec 7 | 1016 psi |
HB42 | 942 psi |
Loctite PL Premium | 873 psi |
Gorilla Grab Adhesive | 862 psi |
Bond It PU18 | 582 psi |
Bond It Save Nails | 411 psi |
CT1 adhesive vs Adiseal adhesive strength test
Although the Ultimate Handyman did not test CT1 adhesive in the recent adhesive strength test, they did assess both the old formulas of CT1 and Adiseal adhesive in a prior test. In that previous test, it was shown that Adiseal’s old formula was stronger than C-Tec’s old formula.
In an earlier independent adhesive strength test conducted by Ultimate Handyman, the comparison between the old formulas of CT1 and Adiseal in a metal-to-metal test indicated that the C-Tec’s old formula adhesive broke at 148 psi, whereas Adiseal’s old formula broke at 201 psi. This demonstrated that Adiseal’s old formula outperformed C-Tec’s product in bond strength. Additionally, the new formula of Adiseal exhibited increased strength, breaking at 245 psi in the same test. Moreover, in a wood-to-metal test, Adiseal achieved an impressive 3123+ psi without breaking.
Is CT1 adhesive actually 360% stronger?
How strong is CT1? Some manufacturers often make exaggerated claims about their products, boasting about being « 360% stronger ». However, it is important to question the validity of these bold assertions. Without supporting evidence, such claims can be dismissed as mere marketing hype.
Adiseal’s position as the strongest adhesive is proven by independent testing. In contrast, the claim of CT1 being « 360% stronger » lacks any substantiating evidence from the manufacturer.
