Sticking wood to concrete or brick with adhesive

Sticking wood to concrete or brick with adhesive

  1. Surface preparation

Thoroughly clean both the wood and concrete or brick. We recommend using a fine brush like a painting brush to remove fine dust from concrete or brick.

  2. Apply adhesive

Apply the adhesive to either surface. Covering as much surface area as possible will create a better adhesive bond but do not apply too much otherwise excess adhesive can squeeze out when pushing the wood to the concrete or brick.

  3. Join wood to concrete or brick

Firmly press the wood to the concrete or brick. Remove any excess adhesive that may squeeze out of the sides.

  4. Temporary supports (if required)

Adhesives usually take time to cure and reach full bond strength. If the wood starts to move away from the concrete or brick during this curing time, use temporary supports to hold it in place until the adhesive cures.

  5. Final check

After the adhesive has fully cured, remove the temporary supports and check the bond is secure before putting any stress on it.

Tip: Wood can bend in shape by absorbing moisture in the air. Before attempting to attach the wood to concrete or brick, let the wood acclimatize to the environment by leaving it exposed to the air for a while.

Best Adhesive Strength Test

Ultimate Handyman conducted thorough adhesive strength tests by applying various products between wood and metal surfaces. After allowing curing time, each adhesive underwent pressure via a hydraulic ram to test its breaking point.

Adiseal stood out as the strongest adhesive, surpassing its closest competitor’s strength by over three times. Its exceptional strength caused the screws of the test rig to nearly rip out before the bond could break, leading to the test’s premature end.

Best adhesive proven by an independent test.

Test results

Adiseal impressively withstood significant pressure of over 3123 psi in the bond strength test between hardwood and metal. In contrast, other product bonds failed at pressures of 1115 psi or lower. The graphic representation below clearly displays Adiseal’s superior performance, solidifying its position as the top adhesive.
